Charles Ewing first absorbed a love of painting watching his
father, Frank, create
magic at the easel. He began his own full-time career at the easel in 1976,
exploring scratchboard medium but finding it lacking, he developed a superior
clay surface for his fine art applications.
Charles is best known for his uniqueness and diversity
in both subject matter and medium. Besides his innovative
work with ink on clay, he paints extensively in oils,
both plein air landscapes as well as studio pieces
focusing principally on figures, both human and animal.
An avid outdoorsman, Charles' landscape and wildlife
work comes from first-hand experience in nature.
Broadening his travels to experience many of life's
new faces has become an important source of artistic
inspiration. Besides completing many commissioned pieces,
Charles relies on galleries to offer collectors the
opportunity to share his vision of life's beauty.
Charles is the author of "The New Scratchboard:
Clay Surface Techniques and Materials for Today's Artists."
