Internationally acclaimed artist Márton Váró combines the elements of classical Greek sensitivities with a distinctive modern approach. He is considered one of the premier stone sculptors today, perhaps best known for the two monumental forty-eight foot limestone angels gracing the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. He works in the traditional method of carving directly in the stone or marble which allows him complete control from conception to completion. “First I establish a relationship with the stone,” Váró says, “studying it closely. I start carving with respect and affection, allowing the stone to suggest where to stop, what to leave. The emerging sculpture is always something unique and original.”
