Andrei Kartashov
was born in 1974 in Uzhgorod (Ukraine).

1990 - started education at the Uzhgorod College of the Applied Art.

1995 - graduated from the Uzhgorod College. His graduation work Echo of the Civilizations was awarded First Price among all graduation works as "the best graduation work of the year " . In addition, Andrei was awarded a right to enter the Lvov Academy of Arts (Ukraine) without exams.

1996 - moved to St. Petersburg, Russia and attended an art studio of the Honorary artists of Russia, professors Neprintsev & Sokolov.

1998 - accepted into one of the best art schools in Europe, the St. Petersburg Academy of Art named after Ilia Repin.

1999 - after first year of study in the Academy received "award of distinction" as the best student of the year . A number of works done by Andrei during this year were exhibited at the International Student Exchange Exhibition. Two were purchased by the Barcelona Academy of Fine Art (Spain) as methodical samples, and two were taken as methodical samples by the Educational Foundation of the I.Repin Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia.

2000 - after the second year in the Academy received an award for the best drawing of the year, and was nominated for the "Art Council Honorary Medal for the best drawing". In the same year Andrei received first prize at the "Best drawing of year" competition in St. Petersburg, and was invited to participate in the "Best Contemporary Drawings" book printed in St Petersburg.

2001 - received First Price at the juried show "Best Figurative Paintings" in St. Petersburg .

2003 - Graduated from the Academy. Received an award for "best graduation painting of the year" by the State Certifying Commission.

2004 - started studying at the postgraduate department of the Academy. Andrei was invited to China to give master-classes in painting and drawing in art schools in Beijing, Chindao, Tinang & Shouguang.

2005 - repeatedly invited to China for teaching and master-classes. Chinese side produced a series of video discs with Andrei's master classes and began to sell them in art schools and academies across China.

In 2005 Andrei began teaching at the Academy of Fine Art, regularly participating in seasonal exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists, and at the seasonal exhibitions at the St Petersburg Manezh-hall.

Andrei's works are held in museums and private collections in the USA, Canada, France, China, Spain, Poland, Czech, Ukraine, Russia, Great Britain.    

Partial list of collective and personal exhibitions:

1994 - participation in the international exhibition "Transkarpatian autumn - 94". Received an honorary diploma for an outstanding art installation.

1995 - participation in the exhibition of College of the Applied Art in Krakow, Poland.

1996 - participation in an exhibition of young artists in Prague, Czech.

1996 - collective exhibition of the creative group "Left Eye". Nyredhaza. Hungary.

1997 - participation in auction "John Nicholson Fine Art and Value" in a category Post War And Contemporary Russian Paintings, London.

1998 - participation in a collective exhibition of creative group "academy" at the Manezh - hall in St. Petersburg.

1998 - repeated participation in auction "John Nicholson Fine Art and Value" in a category "Post War And Contemporary Russian Paintings", London.  

1999 - participation in an exhibition of the best drawings of year at the Italian hall of the Academy of arts in St. Petersburg.

1999 - participation in an exhibition of students of the Academy of art in A.S.Pushkin's memorial museum in Pskov, Russia.  

2000 - participation in an exhibition of the best figurative paintings of the year, The Italian hall of the Academy of arts, St. Petersburg.

2001 - participation in an exhibition Russia -Spain. XX century in Barcelona, Spain.

2002 - participation in an exhibition of the best drawings of the year, The Italian hall of the Academy of arts, St. Petersburg.

2003 - personal exhibition in Department of Fine Art of the Union of Russian Artists. St. Petersburg.

2003 - participation in an exhibition of the best graduation works. Titianesque and Raphaelesque halls of the Academy of arts.

2004 - participation in a mobile exhibition of teachers of the Academy of arts in China. Beijing, Chindao, Tinang, Shenzhen.

2004 - personal exhibition in the gallery Ven' Hua, Peking, China.

2005 - personal exhibition in the gallery Pekker, Thornhill, Canada.

2005 - personal exhibition in the hotel Angleter, St. Petersburg.

2005 - personal exhibition of drawings Only Drawings in Shenzhen, China.

2005 - participation in an exhibition Charm of EverydayLife (together with fellow Academy alumnae's Andrei Kartashoff, Kyrill Datsuk, Victoria Harchenko) in the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, at the Brodskiy's memorial branch.
